Summary: How to clear the temporary internet files (cache) in Netscape for either Windows or Macintosh versions.
Cache is a local storage area in your browser in which previously viewed HTML pages and images are stored. If a previously viewed Web page is accessed again, the copy is loaded from the cache. With this technique, unnecessary Internet traffic is avoided. However, once there are new versions of files on the server, the cache must be refreshed. To ensure that the current copy is loaded from the server and not from the cache, clear the disk and memory cache in your browser and load the page again.
To clear cache in Netscape, perform the following steps:
From the Edit menu, click Preferences.

In the Preferences dialog box, from the Category menu, click to expand Advanced. Click to select Cache.

Under Cache, click Clear Memory Cache. Click Clear Disk Cache.
In Netscape Communicator 4.7, you must confirm your decision to Clear Memory Cache and Clear Disk Cache.
In Netscape Communicator 4.7 for the Macintosh, click Clear Disk Cache Now.

From Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network, click to select Every time I view the page.
The Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network option allows you to determine if your browser displays a cached page, or if it will check to see if a more current version of the page is available. The four options available are:
Click OK.

If after clearing your cache from within Netscape you are still unable to reach your site using the domain name, it is possible not all cached files were removed. For information on how to manually clear your cache in Netscape, go to How do I manually clear my cache in Netscape?
