Important  The following information applies only to e-mail products associated with plans that were purchased before February 1, 2005. Procedures for plans purchased after February 1, 2005 can be found in the internal help system, accessed from within the application.

The Master POP account was automatically created for your Verio account when the account was provisioned. This document describes how you can specify your Master POP account as your default catchall address for all mis-addressed email messages sent to your domain. After implementing this procedure, your Master POP account will receive all e-mail messages addressed to your domain that do not match a previously configured forward,  autoresponder, or POP account.

Warning If you intend to use your Master POP as your catch-all email account, make sure to use an email client like Outlook to download email regularly without storing it on your server. You want to do this to avoid the depletion of your account's disk space. For more information, go to Overflow E-mail Overview.

Note: For more information about the default e-mail forward account, go to Default E-mail Forward Overview.

To use the Master POP account as your Default Forward:

Step one: Log into your Control Panel and  click Configure E-mail.

Note: You might be prompted to log in.

Step two: In the Mail Forwarding section, select the current e-mail address in the Default E-mail Forwarding field and press Delete to remove the entry. If this field is blank, do nothing--you are already using your Master POP as your default.

Step three: Click Change to save the empty field.

Note Each Change button saves changes only for the section above it. For example, clicking the Change button for the POP Accounts section or the Autoresponders section does not save any changes you have made in the Mail Forwarding section.

Note: After you delete the default e-mail forwarding address, the Master POP account will be configured as the catch-all email address. When using your e-mail program to retrieve mail from the Master POP account, use your Control Panel user ID and password as your POP ID and password.

Note You also have the option of setting up devnull@yourdomain.com as your catch-all email address if you do not want to sort through the email sent there. The devnull option will automatically delete misaddressed email. For more information on handling your default forward, see Default E-mail Forward Overview

If you create additional POP e-mail accounts, do not to use your Master POP account UserID for any of them; it is being used by the Master POP Account. For more important information about using POP accounts go to POP E-mail Accounts and How to Configure your E-mail Program.
