To add a POP account, perform the following steps:

The following steps assume that you have accessed your Control Panel. For information about accessing your Control Panel, go to How do I access my Control Panel?

  1. From the Control Panel, click Configure E-mail. You may be prompted to log in.
  2. In the @ column, in the first field, type the name for the email recipient. This can be the name of an associate, a department, or anything else you want. Typically, businesses set up accounts using a person's first initial and last name, or create general email accounts like "sales" or "service" or other names that describe certain areas of the business.
  3. In the User ID field, type the name that the POP account holder will use to access the pop box. The name must be unique; you do not want two or more persons with the same user name trying to access different email accounts.
  4. In the Password field, type a password that you want for the email account. Passwords should be unique, yet easy to remember. Do not use the same password for more than one account; this could allow someone to breach your security.
  5. After you are finished creating POP Accounts, click Change. The page refreshes, displaying the new data.
  6. To return to your Control Panel, press Ctrl+End to get to the bottom of the Configure E-mail window, then click Back to Control Panel.

Warning: If you click the Go Back to Control Panel or the Email Defense Solution links before you click Change, you lose any changes you have made on this window.

If, for example, you want to create a POP Account for your Webmaster, type webmaster in the @ field. Type a User ID in the User ID field; this can be up to 10-characters. In this example, webm1 is used. Your Webmaster will need this User ID to access the POP Account you are setting up. Type a password in the Password field; this can be up to 8-characters. After you click Change, the system updates and you can then inform your Webmaster that the email address is active.

Note Note: Each Change button will only save the information for the section above it. Clicking the Change button for the Mail Forwarding or Autoresponders section will not save the changes in the POP Accounts section.

Note: A User ID can have no more than ten characters, and a Password can be no more than eight characters long.

Warning: A User ID cannot match any other User ID. For information on rules regarding e-mail Usernames, go to Rules for Creating E-mail Addresses.
