Solaris VPS/MPS has reached the end of its product lifetime and we will no longer be selling these products. We will also be limiting and, eventually ending, support for existing Solaris VPS/MPS accounts. See the Solaris EOL FAQ for additional information including important EOL milestones.
The FreeBSD Managed Private Servers and Virtual Private Servers version one (or MPS and VPS v1) offer the benefits of a managed hosting solution with the flexibility of a UNIX server. The customized technology of FreeBSD MPS and VPS v1 provides a solution where the operating system and core services are managed for you. However, you continue to have access to your files and programs. FreeBSD MPS and VPS v1 support standard startup scripts, core services, and software from multiple vendors that operate on the server with little to no modification. You can change configuration files and install additional software.
