The transcript of this video:
In this video demonstration, we will design and publish a basic Web Site using Microsoft Expression Web. Since Expression Web is one of the programs intended to replace Microsoft FrontPage, many of the steps in this video also apply and can be used with Microsoft FrontPage 2003.
To begin with, open Microsoft Expression Web.
Select File | New. From here, you can choose what type of Web Site you wish to create. For this demonstration, I'll create a one page Web Site. As you can see, a default HTML (default.htm) file has been added to my folder list.
To edit this file, double click on it. The Design view now appears.
You can also switch to Code view which will show you the HTML coding for your web page, Split view which will show you a Design view as well as the coding view, or simply stay in the Design view.
You can also adjust the Task panes, close them, or reset.
Now that I'm in the Design view, I can create my Web Site much like I would a Microsoft Word document.
[Demonstration of typing text into the Web Page, adding and resizing a picture, centering the text and picture, and changing the color, size and font of the text.]
Be sure to frequently save your changes along the way.
Once your site design is complete, you can now publish to the web. To do this, select File | Publish Site. Once the Remote Web Site Properties screen appears, we highly suggest that you select FrontPage Server Extensions as the Remote Web server type. This is because Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions are fully compatable with Microsoft Expression Web.
Next, enter your Remote Web site location. To do this, type in http:// and then your domain name, then select OK.
You'll be prompted for your Web Site User Name and Password. You'll see a display of your Local Web site and Remote Web site. To publish your Web Site to the server, simply click Publish Web site.
Your Web Site has now been published to the server. You can visit it using your favorite web browser.
